Kathmandu, 6th July: Being selected to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Sustainable Development and Poverty Reduction Seminar in China was one of the most memorable opportunities of my life. From the day I learned about the program, I was excited to be part of it. After completing all the necessary procedures, I finally arrived in China, where a new world of learning, culture, and experience welcomed me.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) organizes such programs to strengthen cooperation, promote knowledge sharing, and enhance the capacity of participants from its member countries. Through this seminar, I realized that the program was not only about classroom learning but also about building friendships and exchanging ideas with people from different nations.

The organizers provided excellent accommodation and meals throughout the program. The learning environment was well organized and comfortable. The classes were interactive, with short breaks after every hour and enough time to rest during the day, making learning enjoyable rather than stressful. Professors from leading Chinese universities delivered practical and engaging lectures, and we even had the opportunity to learn basic Chinese calligraphy and participate in various academic discussions.

One of the most valuable parts of the seminar was meeting participants from Nepal and many other countries. We shared experiences, learned from one another, and built friendships that will remain meaningful for years to come. The welcome reception organized by the hosts created a warm and friendly atmosphere among all participants. Along with classroom sessions, we visited Yangling, Xi'an, and Beijing, where we explored agricultural research centers, development projects, industries, an edible oil factory, and a noodle production factory. These visits gave us a deeper understanding of China's development, innovation, culture, and way of life.
I was particularly impressed by China's cleanliness, discipline, respect for time, and modern infrastructure. Travelling hundreds of kilometers on smooth highways, experiencing the 350 km/h high-speed bullet train, visiting the Great Wall, museums, and cultural performances made the journey even more memorable. During our free time, we also explored local markets and experienced online shopping in China.

It was interesting to see how quality products could be purchased at reasonable prices through their advanced digital marketplace. One unforgettable experience happened while we were exploring Yangling. We lost our way, and a kind Chinese citizen not only guided us but also drove us back to our hotel in his own car. His generosity and willingness to help left a lasting impression on me. That simple act of kindness became one of the most meaningful memories of my visit. The fifteen-day stay passed so quickly that it felt much shorter than it actually was.I returned home not only with photographs and souvenirs but also with valuable knowledge, international friendships, a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, and a broader perspective on development.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and all the organizers for providing such a meaningful opportunity. Programs like this strengthen friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation among different countries. I am confident that the knowledge, experience, and inspiration I gained during this visit will continue to guide me in both my personal and professional journey. — Roshan K.C.
